On 8-9 December, Nepal Forum for Restorative Justice, together with Bikalpa organized a workshop with teachers on Restorative Justice in Education in Kathmandu, Nepal. The workshop brought together 20 teachers from various schools – both public and private. A part of Pedagogies of Care series, the workshop aimed at producing violence-free and care-driven learning environment in schools.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Ram Tiwari from the Nepal Forum for Restorative Justice. Given the schools in Nepal are frequently reported to have incidences of punishment, the workshop delved into the restorative pedagogy where all children have an opportunity to get heard and cared for. Not just that, the teachers and parents also get opportunities to discuss their concerns and collectively design methods that work for all of the stakeholders.
In terms of skills, the participants were given a hands-on familiarity with empathic communications, dialogues and circles.
