Nepal Forum for Restorative Justice publishes its final annual report of the year 2023. In 2023, the organization made significant strides in promoting restorative justice, dialogue and peacebuilding across Nepal. Our key accomplishments of 2023 included:
– Advancing transitional justice through advocacy meetings and consultations on the Reconciliation Framework across all provinces of Nepal.
– Bringing together stakeholders through the Fifth Nepal Conference on Restorative Justice, and charting ways forwards on children and juvenile justice.
– Strengthening multi-stakeholder dialogue initiatives at provincial and local levels in partnership with various organizations.
– Enhancing capacities of local governments to implement human rights-based approaches.
– Fostering the culture of peace and dialogue in Nepal through Nepal Dialogues Summit 2023, trauma-informed peacebuilding.
– Mainstreaming discourses on youth, peace and security through the United Nations Youth, Peace and Security Agenda.
– Promoting Pedagogies of Care to integrate restorative justice principles and positive discipline in educational settings.
– Recognizing local peacebuilding innovations through the Stella Tamang Peace Innovations Award.
These activities have contributed to fostering a culture of dialogue, promoting restorative practices, and strengthening governance at various levels. Moving forward, NFRJ remains committed to its mission of promoting restorative justice for people, groups, and communities in Nepal and beyond.
In this report, NFRJ’s key programs and achievements are categorized in three parts, i.e. Part I- Programs on Reimagining Justice, Part II- Programs on Peace and Part III- Programs on Intersections, those related to Pedagogies of Care and Restorative Education.
