On 13 September, Nepal Forum for Restorative Justice organized the fifth and final series of workshop on the 2015 UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS). The YPS Agenda was established in 2015 but Nepal has seen relatively little initiatives taken towards it despite it being hard hit by conflict, youth making a significant demography (42%) and the transitional justice processes are still underway.
The fifth series of workshop was done in collaboration with Government of Nepal’s National Youth Council and civil society organizations such as Blind Youth Association Nepal, Youth Initiative, YUWA Nepal and Youth Advocacy Network. The final workshop focussed on “Partnership, the fourth pillar of UNSCR 2250” and “Disengagement and Reintegration, the fifth pillar of the YPS Agenda. There were a total of 20 participants representing diverse agencies concerned with the promotion of youth, peace and security agenda. After the end of this series, NFRJ plans to publish the report with the compilation of findings from each workshop and how that pertains to Nepal’s commitments towards the YPS Agenda.
