On May 21-23, 2023, NFRJ organized a workshop with Madhesh Provincial Dialogue Forum in Nagarkot, Lalitpur. The workshop was initiated with icebreaking between participants, introducing between the participant, and sharing about the workshop objectives and session schedules.
In the workshop, there were sessions on conceptual landscape of dialogue; historical evolution of dialogue and present relevance; on three layers of federal government and interconnections of each layer with next layer of governance in federal system as mandated by Nepal’s constitution and laws; dialogue and correlates such as discussion, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, design of dialogue, steps and processes of dialogue, 5P analysis in dialogue process, dialogue skills, conflict transformation, and sustainability of dialogue, scope and practices of dialogue (application of dialogue in different phases of conflict), role of province level dialogue forum and action plan. The two- and half-day workshop was held in Nagarkot, where there were 15 (8 male, and 7 female) participants from province dialogue forum.
In the workshop there was discussion on importance of provincial government in federalism and role of provincial Dialogue forums to support the provincial governance, intergovernmental relations, and to improve communication strategies in governance reform. The discussion was focused on jurisdiction of the provincial governments and pointed out their exclusive and shared rights under the constitution of the federal democratic republic of Nepal 2015.
